Chanel Coco Neige 2026/27: Matthieu Blazy's First Winter Collection, and How I Would Wear It

Every October I wait for one winter collection more than any other, and this year it arrived with a new name behind it. Chanel Coco Neige 2026/27 is Matthieu Blazy's first Coco Neige for the House: sporty, a little retro, playful in the best way, and still unmistakably Chanel. Here is what is in it, the pieces I would pack, six outfit formulas, and exactly where I would wear it, from Courchevel and St. Moritz to Aspen.

The Collection

What Is Chanel Coco Neige?

Coco Neige is Chanel's winter and ski collection: the House's codes of tweed, quilting, knitwear and the double C, translated for snow, cold air and long lunches on a mountain terrace. It is designed to be worn on the slopes and, just as importantly, off them.

I have loved Coco Neige for years because it understands something about luxury ski wear that many collections miss. Most of a ski holiday happens away from the pistes: the walk to the gondola, the chalet, the dinner, the flight home. Coco Neige dresses all of it.

This season Chanel describes the collection as "sporty silhouettes and alpine elegance", an "elegant and functional winter wardrobe". After going through the full collection, I think that is exactly right, with a wink of humour I did not expect.

A New Chapter

Matthieu Blazy's First Coco Neige: Sporty, Retro and Playful

This is the first Coco Neige designed by Matthieu Blazy, and you can feel a fresh hand on it. The mood leans retro and sporty, as if someone opened an old Alpine ski club wardrobe and reworked everything in cashmere, shearling and tweed. The proportions are relaxed, and there is denim and jersey alongside the wool and cashmere, so the collection moves easily between the mountain and the city.

The palette. Red, navy and bright blue run through the collection against Chanel's familiar black, white, beige and ecru, with touches of yellow. It is graphic and cheerful, and it photographs beautifully against snow.

The materials. This is where the collection becomes truly luxurious: cashmere cardigans, alpaca and silk beanies and scarves, mohair coats, wool pullovers, and shearling everywhere, from boots and mittens to earmuffs, mules and even a travelling rug.

The humour. Penguins and polar bears appear on brooches, earrings and bags, including a plush penguin clutch on a gold chain. It is the most light-hearted Coco Neige in a long time, and I love that it does not take winter too seriously.

The campaign. The campaign was photographed by Julien Martinez Leclerc among snowdrifts, spruce trees and timber chalets, with Elodie Guipaud, Feng Jiao Long and Lia Marie Mielke. Every image in this post comes from Chanel.

The Edit

The Coco Neige 2026/27 Pieces I Would Pack

01

The Black and White Jumpsuit

A black one-piece with a white stripe. The most elegant answer to a ski suit this season, and the piece I would build a whole trip around.

02

The Large Bowling Bag

In nylon and wool, in bright blue with red. It belongs on the shoulder of someone walking through Courchevel 1850 at four in the afternoon.

03

Shearling Mid-Calf Boots

Shearling lambskin in beige and black. The après-ski boot of the season: warm, soft and polished enough for dinner.

04

Shield Sunglasses

Oversized shield sunglasses in white, or red and blue. The finishing touch for a sunny terrace lunch in St. Moritz.

Beyond those four, I would look closely at the cashmere cardigans in blue, white and black, the ecru tweed jacket with silver, the shearling jacket in beige, the mohair coat in cream and white, and the alpaca and silk beanie and scarf in ecru, black and red. The chapka, the shearling earmuffs and the mittens are the kind of accessories that make a simple ski outfit look considered.

For bags, Blazy has given the maxi flap a winter makeover in red nylon and in shearling, alongside backpacks, shopping bags and small camera cases in shearling. There is a lot of choice, and almost all of it would travel well.

Coco Neige has always understood that a ski holiday is mostly lived off the slopes. This season it does it with a smile.

How to Wear It

How to Wear Chanel Coco Neige: Six Outfit Formulas

A collection this playful needs a little editing. These are the six formulas I would use, whether you are wearing the real Coco Neige pieces or building the same mood with what you already own and what you rent.

1. The red ski look. The campaign's red and white ski outfit with blue stripes is the boldest look of the season. Wear it with white goggles, a cream beanie and white or black gloves, and nothing else that competes. Red against snow is the most flattering colour you can wear on the mountain, and it is easy to find in a photo of a crowded slope.

2. The jumpsuit, quietly. The black jumpsuit with the white stripe is the elegant version. Keep the accessories monochrome: black helmet, mirrored goggles, a black beanie for the chairlift. This is the look for Courchevel and Gstaad, where the chicest skiers rarely wear more than two colours.

3. Tweed for the mountain lunch. A tweed jacket with a skirt sounds impossible at altitude, but it is the most Chanel idea in the collection. Wear it with thick black tights, shearling boots and a chapka, and save it for lunch on a terrace or a long afternoon in the village, never for skiing.

4. The checked coat for the village walk. A black and ecru checked coat with a long scarf is the look for walking between boutiques and cafés. Finish with shearling mules or boots and one small bag. If it is snowing, swap the mules for boots with grip.

5. Cardigan après-ski. A red cardigan, a black skirt and cream mittens is the campaign's après-ski formula, and it translates beautifully to any après outfit: one colourful knit, one dark base, one soft accessory. It works just as well with wide trousers.

6. The travel day. A puffer coat, wide trousers, sneakers, the shield sunglasses and a large bowling bag big enough for a cashmere layer and your goggles. You arrive looking put together and you are ready for the first lift the next morning.

A practical note on shearling and suede. Shearling and suede are made for dry cold. Wear them on clear days, on terraces and in the village, and switch to waterproof snow boots on wet, heavy snow days. Your boots, and your feet, will thank you.

Where to Wear It

Where to Wear Chanel Coco Neige: My Resort Guide

01

Courchevel 1850

The most polished resort in the French Alps. Wear the black jumpsuit on the slopes and the bowling bag in the village. Clean lines and two colours at most.

02

St. Moritz

Sun, altitude and old-world glamour. Shield sunglasses for lunch on the mountain, and tweed, cashmere and shearling for the February events on the frozen lake. Read my St. Moritz style guide.

03

Gstaad

Quiet luxury at its most Swiss. The checked coat, a cashmere cardigan and the camera case: understated, beautifully made, nothing loud.

04

Cortina d'Ampezzo

Italian style in the Dolomites. This is where the red ski look and the tweed lunch look feel completely at home.

05

Aspen

Colour, fun and serious shopping. Bring out the red and blue, the penguin accessories and the earmuffs. Aspen rewards a little playfulness.

06

Closer to Home

For Queenstown, Japan or a Sydney winter weekend, take the knitwear, the scarf and the boots. Coco Neige works beautifully off the mountain too.

Day to Night

How to Wear Coco Neige from the First Lift to Dinner

Morning on the slopes. Start with your ski suit or jumpsuit and a thin cashmere or merino layer underneath. Keep accessories technical and chic: helmet, goggles, gloves. If you want a Chanel note, let it be one piece, such as a beanie for the lift queue.

Lunch on the terrace. Unzip, swap the helmet for a beanie or earmuffs, and put on the sunglasses. This is the moment for a scarf and a small bag.

Après-ski. Change into knitwear, a skirt or wide trousers and shearling boots. Our après-ski style guide has more ideas for this part of the day.

Dinner. Tweed, a mohair coat, a flap bag and your best earrings. A pair of penguin earrings is exactly the kind of wink this collection is about.

Rent the Mood

How to Get the Coco Neige Look with Luxury Skiwear Rental

Coco Neige 2026/27 is due in Chanel boutiques from late October. If you want to own a piece, that is the place to go.

For the trip itself, my advice is the same as always: invest in the pieces you will wear every winter, and rent the ski suit and statement pieces you will only wear for a week or two. It is how you arrive in St. Moritz or Aspen with a wardrobe that feels new without buying a new one each season.

2nd LANE is Australia's largest luxury skiwear rental. To build a look in the spirit of Coco Neige, start with a black, white or red designer ski suit, add cashmere from our knitwear edit, and finish with snow boots and designer ski goggles hire. You can also browse our Chanel pieces and the après-ski collection. Every rental is cleaned for you, and if you are heading north, our Europe skiwear rental guide explains how it works.
